Pre-entry requirements

To start the Night Rating course you must:

  • hold a valid medical certificate;
  • be working towards or hold a LAPL(A); and:
    • have completed exercise 19 - basic instrument flight.
  • be working towards or hold a PPL(A).

Course content

Normal circuits
Circuit emergencies
Solo circuits (5 full stop landings)
Night navigation of at least 50km

Validity period

The Night Rating does not expire.

However, you must have completed one take-off and landing at night, in the last 90 days, to carry passengers.
