About and Online Booking.

Welcome to Gamston Flying School.

We're a friendly and professional flying school based just off the A1 near Retford, Nottinghamshire. We're less than an hour from Doncaster, Sheffield, Newark, Gainsborough, Mansfield, Nottingham and Lincoln. Gamston Flying School opened for business in 2011, but just because we're young, it doesn't mean that we're not experienced! All of our Instructors have EASA Commercial Pilots Licences and we even have our own in-house examiners!

We're open for flying from 9am until 6pm nearly everyday of the year and there's always someone on the end of the phone - if you need to speak to us outside of these hours. We make sure our customers are our main priority, whether you're with us for a 30 minute Trial Flight or you're a returning "solo renter".

And that shows, because our customers continue to give us positive feedback! 100% of our students passed their PPL skills test first time in 2012, 2013 and so far in 2014! So, why not call in for a chat over a cup of coffee?

Trial Flying Lessons.

On a Trial Lesson, you'll sit in the left hand (Captain's) seat and you'll be able to exerience flying the aircraft and operating some of the main controls. Trial Flying Lessons make great gifts for someone special, or are the ideal way of entering the world of aviation!

PPL Training.

The EASA-PPL requires a minimum of 45 hours flying, 10 of which will be spent flying the aircraft solo, when the instructor feels that you are ready. The course is very structured, and you will find that it does not take long before you are able to control the aircraft accurately and safely. You will then learn to use the radio, to navigate, and what to do if things don’t go according to plan! The time that it takes to achieve the EASA-PPL depends upon the frequency of your lessons. If you take one or two lessons per week, which seems to be most popular with students, you can expect to have your licence within a year of starting. It is possible, however, to take a very intensive course and gain your licence in under three weeks. If you wish to fly only once a month, then we can cater for that as well!
